一种低码率下的H.264跳帧算法

Frame Skipping Algorithm for H.264 at Low Bit Rate

摘要: 在低码率情况下采用跳帧技术,可以有效防止缓冲器上溢。但是无选择性的跳帧将导致序列不连贯和停顿等现象,图像质量不能得到保证。针对该问题,提出一种根据图像重要性进行跳帧的算法。根据图像复杂度为重要P帧分配更多码率,并根据图像内容与运动程度来自适应地选择跳帧。为了避免跳帧后的目标数据量过度增大,采用一种新的码率更新机制来保持图像质量的稳定性。实验结果表明,该算法在低码率情况下,可减少跳帧数目,并提高图像质量。

Abstract: Frame skipping is used to avoid the buffer overflow at low bit rates. But frame skipping without careless decision leads to incoherence or jump in sequence and influence the coding qualities. This paper proposes a frame skipping algorithm based on the picture importance. The algorithm allocates more bits to important P pictures according to their context complexity, and adaptively chooses some frames to skip based on the movement degree. To avoid the excess increment of target bit rate after frame skipping, one bit rate fresh algorithm is proposed to guard the stabilization of quality. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the number of the frame skipping with improved and steady PSNR at low bit rates.
