Performance Analysis of iSCSI-based IP Storage Wide Area Network

摘要: 随着远程容灾、内容分发、数据网格等的不断应用,要求数据存储的范围从局域网拓展到广域网。在SNIA 共享存储体系结构的基础上,提出了基于iSCSI 协议的IP 存储广域网的共享存储模型,并利用iSCSI 软件实现方式,基于网络RAID 设计实现了IP 存储广域网系统。通过实验测试,研究了网络带宽、网络延迟和丢包率对IP 存储广域网性能的影响。实验结果表明:IP 存储广域网的性能随着网络性能的下降而降低。

Abstract: With the growing applications of remote disaster-tolerance, content distribution, data grid, there is a crucial need to extend the scope of data storage from LAN to WAN. Based on SNIA shared storage architecture, this paper proposes a shared storage model of iSCSI-based IP storage wide area network (IP-SWAN). The IP-SWAN based on networked RAID is implemented utilizing iSCSI software implementation mode. The IP-SWAN performance effects of network bandwidth, latency and drop rate are analyzed through experimental testing. Experimental results indicate that IP-SWAN performance will decrease with the network performance degrading.
