Analysis of Scaling Behavior of Internet Packet Delay Based on High Density Measurement

摘要: 通过对测量间隔为10ms 的Internet 路径往返延迟测量数据的分析,发现了往返延迟呈现两类截然不同的特性:突发态特性和平稳态特性。通过DFA 分析,进一步得出以下结论:Internet 路径往返延迟序列不具有单一的标度行为;剔除突发态数据后的往返延迟序列趋向于呈现长程相关特性,Hurst 指数在0.55~0.8 之间。

Abstract: This paper analyzes scaling behavior of Internet round-trip time (RTT) based on small-interval (10ms) measurements and finds thatRTT series consist of two completely different components: spiky component and normal component. By using DFA method, it is found that theoriginal RTT series do not exhibit simplex scaling behavior, but when removing spiky component, RTT series show long-range dependence, withHurst exponent ranging from 0.55 to 0.8.
