Mobile Edge Computing(MEC) technology has been widely used in services that require high real-time performance and intensive bandwidth resources,but the heterogeneous underlying infrastructure leads to multiple security and privacy issues.The decentralization,tamper proofing and anonymity of blockchain technology,however,can provide MEC systems with a new trusted computing paradigm,which enables transaction authentication without a trusted third party and information records in distributed environment,protecting the security of data in collection,transmission,storage and computing.Focused on key issues in edge computing such as security,privacy protection and resource management,this paper reviews the applications and technology of blockchain in MEC,with regard to data security,privacy protection,identity authentication,access control,computing migration,and network management.Furthermore,this paper summarizes the ways of blockchain technology is applied in edge computing scenarios,including Content Distribution Network(CDN),smart cities,and smart healthcare,and lists the advantages of blockchain technology.Finally,this paper shows the possible research directions and applications of blockchain technology in MEC.
