Abstract:
Three-state optical fiber communication is conceived by using two perpendicular polarization directions of optical to express two different information(such as 2 and 1), and no light state to express the third information(0). It is the combination of polarization-shift and margins-shift essentially. In this theory, a light pulse represents a ternary bit, so the transmission rate of information (bit rates) can be increased by 58.5%. A binary bit is represented, and the system capacity limits of information communication can be increased by 58.5%. This paper accomplishes an experiment about the theory. A three-state optical fiber communication transceiver is built to achieve the goal, and a liquid crystal is used to realize the mutual conversions of three states of optical in the transceiver. Experiments prove the validity of three-state optical fiber communication principle and its feasible ways from theory to application are explored.

摘要: 针对三态光纤通信的原始设计光路图,依据可控光源的特点和时间冗余技术,提出了2种相应的光路简化方案,得到了较易实现的工程光路图,通过液晶器件实现偏振键控,以嵌入式系统控制液晶器件的显示,制作了一台三态光纤通信收发器,实现了单工、单光纤、单信道的三态光纤通信。试验证明了三态光纤通信原理的正确性和可行性,为三态光纤通信走向实用奠定了实验基础。
